Richard Wiegandt, Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, retired scientific advisor at the Alfréd Rényi Institute for Mathematical Research, and former head of the institute's Algebra Department, passed away on October 12, 2025, at the age of 94. 
Richard Wiegandt's main areas of research were ring theory and general radical theory. MathSciNet lists 156 of his works. His books (Radical and Semisimple Classes of Rings and Radical Theory of Rings) are the most significant summaries of the subject. He had an extensive network of contacts and published jointly with 48 co-authors from 24 countries. He spent at least one month at 19 foreign universities on every continent. Nine people obtained their doctoral or candidate degrees under his supervision. 
In accordance with his last will and testament, there will be no funeral service.
His memory will be preserved by his colleagues and his works.
