The Society's most prestigious award, the Tibor Szele Memorial Medal, was presented to academician László Pyber. Rényi's research professor works with the Asymptotic Group Theory research group and has previously won both an Academy Award and an ERC Advanced Grant. The Tibor Szele Memorial Medal was established by the János Bolyai Mathematical Society in 1970. The medal, awarded once a year, can be given to researchers who have done successful research in any branch of mathematics and, at the same time, have helped and guided talented young people to an outstanding degree, introducing them to mathematical research and thus contributing to the education of the next generation of Hungarian mathematicians.

One of the four Gyula Farkas Memorial Awards presented to young mathematicians in applied mathematics went to Dániel Keliger. Rényi's young talent works on the EU-funded DYNASNET project led by research professor László Lovász. Candidates for this award must be under 35 years of age, preferably with a PhD, and must have completed the majority of their studies required for their degree in Hungary or have conducted research at a Hungarian institution for at least two years as postdoc fellows, and have carried out significant scientific work in theoretical topics closely related to applied mathematics, or in concrete model creation, as well as yielding significant new results  in the education or popularization of applied mathematics, or in the development of IT methods.

The second degree of the Kató Rényi Memorial Award, which is given for scientific achievements before graduation, was awarded to 19-year-old Anna Miranda Christ, member of Rényi's research team, who is currently a freshman at the University of California at Berkeley, and whose presentation in English kicked off the Month of Mathematics  at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Congratulations to our Distinguished Colleagues at Rényi Institute!
