Abstract: In this talk, we will present a few simplifications of Munshi's approach towards proving subconvexity bound problems that led to

1. Obtaining the Weyl bound for $GL(2)$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect for Hecke-cusp forms of any level and nebentypus, and

2. Obtaining an improved exponent for $GL(3)$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect that are not necessarily self-dual.

If time permits, I will briefly sketch ideas behind an ongoing project about using $GL(3)$ Kuznetsov formula for obtaining a subconvexity bound for $GL(4)$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect.
