András Máthé: Measurable equidecompositions

Every disc in the plane can be equidecomposed to a square: that is, one can partition the disc into finitely many pieces and translate these to obtain a partition of a square. This is a result of Miklós Laczkovich. In recent years this result was proved to hold with pieces that are Lebesgue measurable, or even Borel, or Jordan measurable. I will talk about these results and their backgrounds.
