Budapest, August 5 - 11, 2005

We take great pleasure in announcing that the Janos Bolyai Mathematical Society is going to organize a conference on mathematical logic. With this event we would like to celebrate the unique event that two great Hungarian logicians, L. Kálmar and R. Péter, both have their centenary of birth in 2005.

In this announcement we deliver information about the invited speakers, contributed talks, abstract submission, registration, conference venue, travel grants and accomodation. Further information will be posted on the home page of the confrence at http://www.renyi.hu/lh05 as it becomes available. We suggest you to check it regularly.

INVITED SPEAKERS

The following invited speakers have already indicated their intention to participate at the conference.

CONTRIBUTED TALKS

The official language of the conference is English. Each contributed talk has a 20-minute time slot. Every lecture room has an overhead and video projector. Please note however, that there will be no blackboard in the lecture rooms. If you wish to present a contributed talk, do not forget to submit the abstract of your talk.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Abstracts of contributed talks are handled by a service of Atlas Conferences Inc. Please use the Abstract Submission tab on the right for submission and checking.

REGISTRATION

You may register on-line by clicking on the Registration tab. If you already (pre)registered but want to change any data then please simply register once again.

REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is 160 if paid before MAY 31, 2005, and 200 if paid thereafter. It covers all conference material (abstracts, program, etc.), the conference dinner, and service during the coffee breaks. Accompanying persons who wish to attend the conference dinner should also register. The Registration Fee for an accompanying person is 50. It covers the conference dinner and service during the coffee breaks. The registration fee does not include any kind of insurance. We strongly recommended to take an insurance policy of your choice when you book your travel. Weakly tickets for all public transportation in Budapest can also be ordered. The price is 13. CONFERENCE DATE AND VENUE

The conference will be held between August 5-10. The recommended arrival date is August 4, the recommended departure date is August 11. The conference will take place at the Corvinus University of Budapest, Faculty of Public Administration. The address is: 5, Ménesi út, Budapest, 11^th district. It is a nice, quiet location on Buda side, at Gellért hill's side that is at the same walking distance from the river Danube as the city center.

TRAVEL GRANTS

As a sponsor of the conference, the Association for Symbolic Logic provides grants covering partially the travel expenses of Ph.d. students and young researchers who are members of the ASL. Applications should be submitted directly to the ASL. More information can be found at http://www.aslonline.org.

ACCOMODATION

We reserved a block of dormitory rooms at the conference site. It is possible to extend your stay in these rooms by arriving a few days before and/or departing a few days after the conference. Each room contains two separate beds and two rooms form a unit having a common bathroom. The rooms are definitely of better quality than usual dormitory rooms or usual student hostel rooms. The prices per person (for one night) are as follows: room with double occupacy: 15 (breakfast included); room with single occupacy: 25 (breakfast included). In addition, the dormitory has two studios (one with four beds, another with five beds) which are suitable for families. If you are interested in them, for the details please send an e-mail to . Availability of dormitory rooms is limited, their reservation will proceed on a 'first-come first-served' basis. If you wish to reserve such a room, please fill out the related form. This is necessary even if you have registered.

If you wish to have a different kind of accomodation, please make your own reservation directly. We may provide you some help if you send us an e-mail to describing your preferences.

MEALS

During the conference lunch is served at the conference site. The price of a 3-course self served lunch is 6 that should be paid upon registration. Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to use this lunch service. No dinner will be served on the spot. We will, however, provide a list of nearby restaurants.
