András Bezdek: Optimal arrangements and counterexamples in discrete geometry

The common thread connecting the problems which will be mentioned is personal, I choose some well known and less well known theorems, where I was able to make comments, rule out possible generalizations or give  simple visual proofs. Such theorems/topics include: fractional Jung’s theorem, Borsuk’s partition problem, tilings with cylinders, equation for translational packings  of cylinders, higher dimensional Pick-type theorems, crossing issue in coverings, packing congruent circles in bounded containers, and other problems if time permits.
