Practicalities
Lodging
While the conference dates are not officially during high tourist season, the organizers encourage participants to make arrangements for accommodation as soon as is practical. Options include:
- Hotels are plentiful in Dubrovnik. A few rooms have been reserved at the Hotel Lero, which is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the conference center and we suggest it as a good option for lodging. You may make your own reservation, or contact Gordana Matic if you have difficulty and want to inquire about the rooms we have set aside.
- Dorm accommodation at the conference center. Again, the organizers have reserved a block of rooms at the Inter-University Centre for use by conference participants. The rooms are on the top floor (no elevator), some are shared, at a cost of €20-30 per person per night. Some funding is available for junior participants for dorm lodging; please use the registration form to request it. Participants may also make dormitory reservations directly. More information is available at www.iuc.hr/dormitory.php.
- On-site apartments at the conference center. There are seven studio apartments, mostly with two beds, being held for conference participants. Please contact Gordana Matic for details.
- Other lodging options are also fairly numerous, through travel sites such as booking.com or airbnb.com.
Excursions
There are various options for activities during the free afternoon on Wednesday. Two more-or-less formally organized options include:
- Sea kayaking. Leaves from the pier just downhill from the IUC; circles Lokrum Island with various stops there and on the main coast. Approximately 3 hours, includes snack. See this link for more information. Arrive at Pile bay 1:10pm for 1:30 departure.
- Island-hopping boat tour. Includes lunch, approximately 6 hours. Leave IUC after morning session in group led by Gordana Matic.
