Abstract. It is well known that no line can intersect (the interior of) 2n cells of the n by n chessboard. What is the case with the 3 and higher dimensional cube? How many small cubes of the n by n by n cube (in dimension 3) can a plane intersect? Joint result with Peter Frankl.
