About Hungary & Transportation

General information about Hungary:

Citizens of most European countries (except Albania and Turkey), USA,
Canada, South Africa, Israel, etc. do not need a visa to enter Hungary.
Entry visas, however, are required for citizens of Australia, China, India,
Taiwan, etc. Please inquire at the nearest Hungarian Embassy or Consulate.
For citizens of the former Soviet Union the regulations may differ from
state to state. Please check at your own authorities or at the Hungarian
Embassy.

In Hungary the local currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). The present
exchange rate is one US dollar is about 270 Forints. Major currencies
will be accepted for paying accommodation, board and registration fee at
the registration. Unfortunately there is no way for us to accept
credit cards

The weather at Lake Balaton in July, is mostly sunny and warm
with the average temperature between 25-30 C. However, rain and cool weather
are also conceivable. Balatonföldvár is a lake-shore
resort, so you should not forget to bring your swimming suit.

Transportation in Budapest:

The simplest way to get from the airport to the railway stations is
to take the Airport Minibus which can be booked upon arrival at the airport.
It costs 1500 HUF to any destination in Budapest. There is also an airport
bus (leaving in every 30 minutes) which goes to Deák tér,
the meeting point of the subway lines. The cost is 600 HUF. Taxi
cabs are also available, but the prices could be quite high. Presently
you must pay about 200 HUF per kilometer plus some initial fee. To reach
the railway stations from the airport costs about 4000 HUF/taxi. In case
you prefer public transportation, you can take a city bus No. 93 (the number
on the bus is written in red) from the airport to the last stop where you
can take the "blue" (No.3) subway (Metro) line to Deák tér.
The trams, subways and city buses operate with pre-purchased tickets. One
ticket costs 95 HUF; at each transfer you have to validate a new ticket.
You can buy tickets at kiosks, newspaper stands and ticket offices which
usually can be found at the entrances of subway stations. Tickets must
be validated upon boarding a tram or bus or upon entering the subway station.
From Deák tér both Déli pályaudvar (South Station)
and Keleti pályaudvar (East Station) can be reached using the "red"
(No.2) Metro line. Déli pályaudvar is one of the terminal
stations, and Keleti pályaudvar is the third stop in the other direction
(from Deák tér to Örs vezér tere.)
