Announcement:The János Bolyai Mathematical Society and the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics are establishing a new Emléktábla Workshop Series. The aim of the workshop is to gather young mathematicians to work on problems posed by experienced senior researchers. The topic of the first workshop is extremal combinatorics; more precisely hypergraphs and set systems (colorings, Ramsey-type problems, extremal set system problems, etc.). Program:On the first
day the senior
participants give one lecture each presenting an area with many open
problems that we will solve during the rest of the week. Every other
day we will split up to smaller groups according to which problem we
want to work on. At the end of the day each group gives an informal
presentation about the long standing conjectures solved that day.
Location:The first day of lectures will be held at the Rényi Institute in Budapest. Later that afternoon we travel to Gyöngyöstarján. The rest of the workshop will be held at Mátra Oázis Kkt Oktatási Központ in Gyöngyöstarján. How do we get there? To get to Rényi Institute follow the instructions of its webpage. Costs:Accommodation (3 nights) and food will be approximately 10000 ft/day=40 euros/day. Depending on funding there may be some financial support available. We also strongly encourage self-funding. Application:Due to the limited capacity of the guesthouse in Gyöngyöstarján we cannot accept applications any more. Confirmed Participants:Lecturers:Zoltán
